At Axiom Space, we believe the future of spaceflight is not just about reaching new frontiers — it’s about making them livable, meaningful, and human. Our recent collaboration with Maison Mumm marks a pivotal cultural moment in space, with the testing of a champagne bottle specially designed for spaceflight on Axiom Mission 4 (Ax-4).

A Cultural First: Mumm Cordon Rouge Stellar Project

Developed by Spade Agency, the Mumm Cordon Rouge Stellar bottle is a feat of engineering and design to withstand microgravity while preserving the symbolic ritual of champagne and meeting the rigorous demands of spaceflight. Before opening, the integrity of the bottle will be carefully tested during Ax-4 to ensure it can endure the unique pressures and conditions of space. This technical design represents how we think about culture in space: not as an afterthought, but as a part of the human experience.

“Designing for space means confronting technical extremes — but also emotional distance,” says Octave de Gaulle, founder of Spade Agency. “With Mumm Stellar, we weren't just solving a problem of pressure or weightlessness, we were exploring how to preserve something meaningful in orbit.”

Axiom Space x Spade Agency: A Long-Term Vision

Together, Axiom Space and Spade Agency have navigated complex regulatory landscapes and are bringing a cultural object into space, but this is just the beginning. The two companies are now exploring a long-term partnership that bridges space and society — through real, qualified, mission-ready products.

Building on the success of the Mumm Stellar project, Axiom Space and Spade Agency are now embarking on a new venture: the design of the future galley for Axiom Station. This initiative explores how food preparation and shared meals can support the success and well being of long-duration missions.

“Axiom Space is opening the door to a more accessible space era — and we believe that design has a role to play in shaping what that experience feels like,” said de Gaulle.

“Imagining the future of cooking in space is a profound design challenge,” added the Spade Agency team. “It’s one that will benefit greatly from the expertise of terrestrial industries in food processing, packaging, gastronomy, and tableware.”

The collaboration reflects a shared vision: merging operational innovation with cultural relevance — making space more human.

Supporting a New Era in Human Spaceflight

Axiom Space is redefining access to low-Earth orbit. Our human spaceflight missions are part of a broader shift toward a more open, diverse, and sustainable space environment. As people stay longer and do more on orbit, design becomes essential — not just for functionality, but for livability.

Spade Agency brings a unique perspective, considering culture and design to support Axiom Space’s future customers. Their work helps translate meaningful ideas into orbital realities — from product design to emotional resonance.
